More About Fair Trade Toys and Games
When you think of 'Fair Trade' you might instantly imagine a bunch of bananas or some coffee from the Co-Op with a swirly whirly blue and green sticker on it.So, what is Fair trade? The Fair trade movement has its origins in Religious movements of the 1940's and 1950's and the targeting of multinational companies by student groups in the 1960's. Fair trade movements and campaigns support the sustainability of local farmers and workers, especially those in the developing world. It helps ensure that slave labour and child labour are abolished. Fair trade also encourages workers to take ownership of their produce. "Trade not Aid!", a slogan used extensively by campaigners in the 1960's, perfectly sums up the Fair trade ethos.
The fair trade movement has successfully evolved and developed to combat difficulties such as harsh economic climates, political hurdles and even consumer fatigue. Through a shift from handicraft to agricultural goods, meaning as well as fair trade toys and fair trade games, you can now buy Fair trade coffee, tea, bananas, honey, biscuits, cake and much more. What has emerged today is Fair trade with 'Standards'. Ensuring products are certified and trademarked meaning that consumers are safe in the knowledge that their choice to shop fair trade will benefit those workers who produced the goods and need help most.
The Fair trade movement means that workers can now experience adequate working conditions and fair terms of trade. This means that the even the poorest and weakest produces are not discriminated against, and their products go through the smaller supply chain and yet reach a larger demographic of consumer, ensuring they reap the most benefit.
