Spiderman – From Comic Books to Blockbuster Movies

First published by Marvel Comics in the early 1960s Spiderman is one of the most popular and commercially successful characters of all time.
The story centres around Peter Parker a brilliant but shy high school student who is mocked by fellow students for being a bit of a swot. He gains his spider like powers after he is bitten in a science experiment by a radioactive spider. Spiderman’s super strength, the ability to climb walls and an amazing jumping skill coupled with a fantastic gallery of enemies makes him one of the most popular and enduring super heroes of all time.
Spiderman is Marvel’s flagship character and has featured not only in their comics but in animated and live action TV programmes and more recently in a hugely successful series of blockbuster movies.
